FAQ
Now for the serious stuff!
I'm worried I won't be able to float:
With 550Kg's of Salt, the water is denser than the Dead Sea, so you will float effortlessly. Also, the depth of the water is very shallow at around 30cm. Anyone – even those people who say they are unable to float in pools or the ocean, can float effortlessly in the tank due to the high concentration of salt & increased density of the water.
When do I need to arrive?
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to booked appointment. On arrival, you will be given a brief orientation, with a little history about Floatation Pods and how to safely enter and exit the tank. Please feel free to ask any questions about floating at this time. You will then be asked to shower and you must be 100% clean prior to entering the tank. Disposable earplugs, Salve, for any light scratches and towels are provided. Once your hour is up, music will gently start playing, to let you know its time to exit the Pod. Plan on spending 90 Min with us, for a 60 Min Float, so you can catch your breath when you arrive and enjoy a Tea and gather your wits, before you leave.
Note: Late arrival will result in reduced treatment time.
How do I prepare for my session?
Avoid drinking coffee prior to floating, (e.g. in the last few hours) so that your mind can be at its quietest. Don’t eat a large meal or nothing at all, as you will be uncomfortable or distracted by the sounds of your gargling stomach, rather, eat a light meal 1-2 hours prior and stay hydrated.
Please ensure you have no external cuts or bleeding, shaved or waxed on the day of your float, or are severely sun burnt (the Epsom salt will sting) and you won’t be at all relaxed.
What do I need to bring?
You don’t need to bring anything along except an open mind. Each room is equipped with its own shower, towels, earplugs, and hair and body products. You do not need to bring a bathing suit, so yes, naked is best, as it is preferable to float in your birthday suit. Bring a contact lense case (to remove them)
Note: If you are prone to ear infections, or have any inner ear conditions, that may be irritated by water, please bring you own ear water specific plugs. We supply standard Silicon disposable ear plugs only.
What if I’m claustrophobic.
Our Studio offers sessions in a spacious flotation Pod, that aims to provide the mind, body and soul with peace and relaxation. Our rooms are bigger than a standard bedroom, private and light proof, to create the perfect escape. You can control the light inside the tank and whether the tank lid remains open or closed.
If you have any of the following conditions, we are NOT able to offer you a Floatation session on the day!
Don’t float if you:
- Are under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Dyed your hair with a water-based dye within a couple of weeks prior to floating.
- Permanent Hair colouring: please wait 1 week prior to floating. For people with very bright, vibrant colours in their hair, you don't want the salt water to fade or damage your hair colour. Noteworthy, it will cost you $1500 in cleaning and downtime fees to empty and refill the tank
- Spray tanning: please wait 5 days prior to floating. Noteworthy, it will cost you $1500 in cleaning and downtime fees to empty and refill the tank.
- Kidney problems.
- If you are presently ill or unwell on the day and not sure if you can float or not, see your Doctor first.
